Surveilance of Static VLANsNot only does macmon prevent unauthorized devices from accessing the network, but also internal devices may be restricted to specific VLANs. macmon triggers a wrong_vlan event every time a device attempts to connect to a VLAN it is not entitled to access. Reactions to events can be flexibly configured via rules: beginning with a simple notification, to moving the device to a predefined visitor-LAN or even to blocking any affected ports. Dynamic VLANs (Layer-2-VLANs)Dynamic Layer-2-VLANs assign devices to pertinent VLANs or network segments according to each device´s MAC address. This permits users to connect to the network from anywhere on the premises and be automatically routed to the VLANs he is authorized to access. No re-configuration is thus required, e.g. after relocating office. The implementation of such a concept is achieved through macmon vlan-managers WEB-GUI. The administration of macmon is further greatly simplified by assigning VLANs to devices via device groups.
